Midpoint Cafe

Adrian, Texas
Standing at just about Route 66's halfway point between Lake Michigan and the Pacific Ocean, the Midpoint Cafe has been serving Mother Road travelers, under a variety of names, since the 1920s.

The Midpoint is a terrific place to experience roadside commerce as it was meant to be—the owner, Fran Houser, will greet you enthusiastically and make sure you get exactly what you came for. You should seriously consider ordering the “ugly crust” pie, for which the Midpoint Cafe is justly famous.
Across the street from the cafe is a small sign, marking the midpoint of Route 66 and providing a near-irresistible photo opportunity. You can even purchase a brick, inscribed as you wish, to become a part of the Midpoint aura.
The cafe also has a gift shop chock-full of Route 66 merchandise.
