Rolla, Missouri

| Animated neon sign at the Mule Trading Post |
The Mule Trading Post is located on the east side of Rolla, and features both Route 66 souvenirs and legitimate antiques.
In 2007, the Mule's owners, Carl and Zelma Smith, succeeded in obtaining a huge, animated “hillbilly” sign that used to stand in front of another Route 66 trading post near Devil's Elbow. Now, it has a commanding view of the highway next door to the Mule.

| The recently-added Hillbilly sign |
Not only do the arms of the hillbilly sign rotate, but a close look at the neon mule's-head sign reveals that it has duplicate sets of neon tubing outlining the beast's ears, indicating that when turned on, the mule's ears will appear to flap. Check it out after dark.
