Snow Cap Drive In
In the Route 66 town of Seligman, Arizona, are two of the Mother Road's greatest treasures. The Delgadillo brothers, Juan and Angel, are two of the most enthusiastic Route 66 boosters that any cause has ever known. Angel runs the barber shop in town, and Juan is the proprietor of the subject of this web page, the Snow Cap Drive In.
The Snow Cap is a Route 66 institution, and Juan's zany sense of humor is all over it. The Snow Cap happened to be closed the first time I passed through town, but I had to stop and spend a considerable amount of time there, anyway. The property is full of outlandish signs, statuary, and other unusual props, and signage on the building itself includes sales pitches for "Dead Chicken."
Seligman is near the eastern end of a long, uninterrupted stretch of vintage 66 that runs all the way to the California border at the Colorado River.
