Trail of Tears Tribute
One of the more unsavory events in American history is/was the forced march of the Cherokee people in 1838 commonly known as the Trail of Tears.
One of the routes taken closely approximates old U.S. 66 in central Missouri, between Rolla and Springfield. Near the community of Arlington, a local resident has paid tribute to those souls who passed this way by creating several decorative stoneworks where his property abuts the highway.
