The Triangle Motel, which dates from the 1940s, is in a somewhat obscure part of town on a somewhat obscure segment of old Route 66. It sat vacant and neglected for many years, and in fact it was in a deplorable state when the photograph of the sign (at right) was taken in the 1990s.
However, things are now looking up. A new owner acquired the property in 2006 with plans to restore it to its former luster. In 2007, the National Park Service awarded a grant, and the arduous work has since begun.
The Triangle was, for its time, quite well-appointed. Common-area features included a landscaped courtyard with fountain, children's play area, picnic tables, and a horseshoe-pitching court, just to name a few.
