Shamrock is just a few miles west of the Oklahoma-Texas border, and is the first town you'll encounter in Texas if you're moving in an east-to-west direction.
Where old Route 66 intersects U.S. 83 stands the U Drop Inn, formerly a gas station and cafe complex which has been restored and now houses the local Chamber of Commerce offices and a small gift shop.
Besides the U Drop Inn, there are a number of other Route 66-era structures to see, although most are in a poor state of repair. South of 66 and just off the downtown district is a recently-restored Magnolia fuel station.

The city likes its golf; a number of the motels in town provide their overnight guests with vouchers for a free round at one of the local courses.
