Drew Knowles Lists Top Ten Quirkiest on Rt 66

2006-08-05 11:06:15

In the August 4, 2006 USA Today, our university's administrator, Drew Knowles, listed his top ten interesting picks for things to see on the Mother Road. . .

Among them was the Illinois State Military Museum, Blue Whale, the whole town of Tucumcari, and others. I have been to Springfield, Illinois many times, but never to the military museum. I'll have to check it out when I'm there in September for the Rt 66 Festival.

Congratulations Drew. It's quite an accomplishment getting an article published in a major paper like the USA Today, and of course, it's always good to get 66 in the public eye.

Editor's Note: The rest of the "most quirky" attractions from the article are the Snow Cap Drive-in, Elmer Long's bottle forest, Totem Pole Park, Wigwam Village, Jackrabbit Trading Post, Big Texan Steak Ranch, and Cadillac Ranch.
