Blue Swallow, Route 66 Landmark, For Sale

Dale Bakke, owner of the historic Blue Swallow Motel on East Route 66 Boulevard in Tucumcari, said he has put the motel up for sale on Tuesday (2/22/05).
Bakke will be moving out of state to be with a seriously ill family member, he said.
“We couldn’t find anyone to run the motel while we were gone, so I decided to sell,” Bakke said. “It’s just one of those things in life.”
Bakke has owned the Route 66 landmark for seven years. The motel property is being sold by New Mexico Property Group. The motel will remain closed until a new owner takes over.
