WAYNESVILLE, Mo. - Residents of Pulaski County have spoken, and decided the cover of the Tourism Bureau’s promotional brochure should reflect Historic Route 66, not local canoeing.
However, not many spoke out.
Despite an Internet and media campaign to solicit responses, only 36 residents voted in a poll to decide which of the two covers best represent Pulaski County. Andy Thiem, executive director of the Pulaski County Tourism Bureau, told board members Thursday evening that 24 residents voted for the Route 66 cover and 12 voted for the canoe and river.
Thiem said the Route 66 cover will have some slight redesign work done to add a Pulaski County river scene and a local landmark to a series of a half-dozen photos of other attractions that are included on the bottom of the cover. Possible local landmarks may include the Frisco railroad depot in Crocker and the Old Stagecoach Stop in Waynesville, he said.
