JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Fourteen sites in Missouri have been nominated for induction into the National Register of Historic Places.
Four of the sites are in the St. Louis area, three near Kansas City, and two in Springfield. One of the Springfield sites is the Rail Haven Motel along historic Route 66. Randy Nottle is the motel's manager.
"We cater to a lot of European travelers coming down Route 66, everything in the hotel is original. The furniture recently, though, has been updated and it's still in great condition."
Other sites around the state include the West Broadway Historic District in Columbia, Trenton High School in Trenton, and the Chillicothe Industrial Home for Girls.
The National Park Service has 45 days to approve or reject the nominations. Those added to the National Register of Historic Places will also be eligible to receive Historic Preservation tax credits.
